Majestic & Strand Theaters Master Plan, Brooklyn, NY

Project Description

Client: Majestic & Strand Theaters Master Plan, Brooklyn, NY

The renovation of a classic theatre in the heart of Brooklyn, transformed by Turett Collaborative Architects (TCA). TCA won the proposal from the New York Department of Design and Construction (DDC) in 1996 and worked with Urban Glass and Brooklyn Community Access Television (BCAT) to develop the master plan for The Strand, which included a black box theater on the ground floor of the building.

The building was to be transformed through adaptive reuse, while preserving the historic architecture of the Majestic Theater. TCA analyzed the future uses of the building, conceiving of new studios and offices for BCAT as well as for Urban Glass.
