HAVEN'S KITCHEN

A 19th Century carriage house is lovingly restored and transformed into a culinary school, event space, and retail establishment that celebrates the importance, the making, and the enjoyment of good food.

Haven’s Kitchen was born out of our client’s desire to create a facility unlike any other before it which would combine food preparation, dining, and retail spaces to promote organic sustainable eating.

A 3-story turn-of-the-century carriage house in the Manhattan neighborhood of Chelsea was converted into a mixed-used establishment, including the five main elements of the program: a professional teaching kitchen, retail space, catering/bar facilities, dining room, and event space.

Industrial blackened steel elements such as the wall partitions, feature stair, and hardware are tempered by wood elements: hand rails, shelving units, and custom millwork pieces. The spaces are embellished with selections from our client’s collection of antique furniture and fixtures sourced from antique markets throughout France.

Haven’s Kitchen, once a kernel of an idea in the eyes of our client, has become an important resource both locally and nationally for the promotion of sustainable food culture.
