BUSH TERMINAL COMFORT STATION
Comfort Station to anchor a growing brownfield reclamation on the Brooklyn waterfront.
This EDC/Parks Department-sponsored project is a reclamation of a series of abandoned piers in Bush Terminal, Brooklyn. TTC's Comfort Station was the initial step in a long-term plan for an expansive public park, which today includes soccer fields and a nature-path for bird watching. Shipping containers --both abandoned and in active use-- are ubiquitous around the site; TTC paired these with an oversized "green roof" (planted with perennial sedums) as a symbol of the evolution and rejuvenation of the area.
