WEST CHELSEA PENTHOUSE

This contemporary West Chelsea penthouse residence in New York City was tailored for an art-collecting family within a large, complex luxury development. The clients, moving from a prior residence designed by the firm, engaged The Turett Collaborative (TTC) while the building was still under construction. Working alongside interior design firm Pamplemousse Design, TTC collaborated with the developer, architects, and contractors to refine the base plans, adjust interior finishes and millwork, and align the residence with the owners’ needs from the outset.

TTC served as design architect and project manager for this private residence, coordinating a wide group of parties under an exceptionally tight timeline within an active construction environment. Early involvement, from purchase through completion, helped keep decisions moving in step with the broader building work while maintaining the project’s schedule and budget.

The plan centers on the family’s primary gathering spaces within the residence, including the kitchen, dining room, and playroom, and is organized to take full advantage of sweeping views and to act as a hinge between public and private areas. A continuous 65-foot exposure was opened up and reconfigured to house the kitchen, breakfast nook, and dining room, anchored by a free-floating custom 11-foot-tall wine display that conceals a pantry. Throughout the home, built-in millwork and carefully selected finishes define individual zones, expand storage, and bring coherence to nearly every room, harmonizing with the building’s own distinctive design elements.
